Healthcare architect who co-creates people-centric, society-enhancing medical facilities Hospitals represent the full circle of life. They’re places where life begins and ends, where people go to heal, comfort, and rejoice. Hospitals are for humans, and their design should reflect that. I’m passionate about designing welcoming, functional, and innovative medical facilities that put patients and staff at the centre. Spaces that are easy to navigate, contribute to cost-effective and efficient service delivery, and that are optimised for quality care that reduces the length of patient stays. I believe that hospitals of the future should be less clinical and more human, and it’s this passion that I bring to every healthcare project I work on. As Senior Architect and Healthcare Business Developer at RoyalHaskoningDHV South Africa, I work with clients to understand their way-of-work limitations, reduce silos, and increase transparency, communication, and openness. I work with my team to understand our clients’ pain points and how we can collaborate to solve problems and co-create solutions that not only enhance their jobs but also enhance society, one small intervention at a time. A highlight of my 16-year career was working on the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, which I believe is a perfect example of how state-of-the-art medical facilities can positively impact communities today and in the future. I’m a people person, a problem solver, and passionate about paediatrics. I have a Bachelor of Architecture and am registered as a professional architect with the South African Council for the Architectural Profession. I am also a member of the South African Institute of Architecture, the Pretoria Institute for Architecture, and the South African Federation of Hospital Engineering. In my spare time, I mentor junior candidate architects, play Action Cricket, and dabble in photography
